Uppercut Studio
Culver City, California
Scope of Work
Uppercut’s new California location was designed to include five editing suites, a finishing flame theater, a mixing suite, a vocal/ADR booth, and a live tracking chamber with an adjoining control room—all sharing common walls with plumbing chases, conference rooms, and private offices.
Our scope was threefold: isolate high-intensity sound spaces from adjacent noise-sensitive areas, tune recording and listening environments for optimal fidelity, and design mitigation solutions that were both effective and architecturally unobtrusive.
Outcome
Using INSUL and EASE for calculations and simulations, we developed AutoCAD design documents featuring more than 40 custom wall types with STC ratings ranging from 42 to 80, as well as detailed elevations for absorption and diffusion treatments, floating floor section plans, reflected ceiling plans (RCP), and MEP coordination. These deliverables not only gave the client a clear understanding of the project’s acoustical requirements, but also equipped their architect, vendors, and contractors with the precise tools needed to bid and build the project with confidence.
