Scope of Work
MD Acoustics was engaged to document existing acoustic conditions and develop predictive models to evaluate potential improvements within the space. The effort began with on-site measurements using calibrated Type 1 sound level meters to establish baseline reverberation time (RT60) performance. Field data was post-processed to quantify existing acoustic behavior and identify conditions affecting speech intelligibility and overall clarity.
To support accurate modeling, as-built drawings were reviewed and supplemented with on-site laser measurements to capture the true geometry and surface conditions of the space. Using this information, a detailed 3D acoustic model was developed using EASE 3D acoustical modeling. Design goals were established in coordination with the client, or recommended by MD Acoustics where none existed, and multiple treatment strategies were modeled. Acoustic auralizations were produced to allow direct comparison between existing and proposed conditions prior to implementation.
Outcome
The modeling and analysis informed a targeted acoustic treatment approach designed to reduce reverberation and improve acoustic performance while respecting architectural intent. The final recommendations demonstrated measurable improvements within the modeled environment and were documented through a concise report and supporting auralization media to aid decision-making and implementation.
