Equestrian Trails – Noise & Vibration Monitoring

Industry

Noise & Vibration Monitoring

Scope of Work

MD Acoustics was retained to provide construction noise and vibration monitoring services for the Zone 3D & 4A Water Transmission Main Improvement Project in Phoenix, Arizona. The monitoring effort focused on documenting construction-related noise and vibration levels along the SR-51 equestrian trail, where pipeline installation occurred in close proximity to residential areas.

MD Acoustics deployed three remote sound and vibration monitoring systems along the construction corridor to continuously measure 24/7 noise and vibration levels throughout active construction. Noise levels were evaluated against City and FTA criteria, while vibration levels were measured in accordance with project-specified thresholds. The monitoring systems provided real-time web-based access, automated exceedance alerts via email and text notification, and weekly summary reports to document compliance and support construction oversight.

Outcome

The noise and vibration monitoring program provided continuous, real-time oversight of construction activities, allowing the project to proceed while maintaining compliance with City and FTA noise and vibration requirements. Automated exceedance alerts and web-based reporting enabled rapid response to potential issues, supporting proactive coordination between the construction team and project stakeholders.

Through consistent monitoring and documented reporting, MD Acoustics helped minimize impacts to nearby residents, address potential concerns efficiently, and provide a clear, defensible record of compliance throughout construction in this sensitive residential corridor.
