Concrete Batch Plant

MD Acoustics was engaged to perform an operational noise assessment for an active concrete batch facility, focused on documenting existing conditions and evaluating how facility operations interact with surrounding land uses. The scope included long-term ambient noise monitoring, field measurements of representative equipment, and source-specific characterization of both mobile and stationary operations. Evaluated sources included concrete mixer trucks, conveyors, front loaders, baghouse vents, airslide blowers, dust collectors, pneumatic vibrators, hydraulic power units, compressors, and backup alarms. Measured data was incorporated into a predictive noise model to assess full operational conditions and potential mitigation measures such as sound walls and berms. MD Acoustics developed a field-verified understanding of real-world operating noise, identifying key contributors and how sound propagates beyond the site. By grounding the analysis in measured data, the study provided a defensible technical record and allowed mitigation strategies to be evaluated based on observed performance, supporting informed planning and noise management decisions.
